Senior Financial Analyst

Finance - Toronto

We are looking for a detail-oriented and strategically minded Senior Financial Analyst to join our finance team at Properly. In this role, you will be a vital part of the business by helping to build our systems and processes related to FP&A, accounting, investment, budgeting, unit economics and financial policy. You will report directly to the Director of Finance.

What you will do:

  • Learn all processes used in finance, budgeting, tax and financial reporting
  • Prepare, review and analyze financial statements and reports
  • Work with outsourced bookkeeping services to post transactions and prepare month-end reconciliations, and evaluate which bookkeeping processes should be brought in-house 
  • Support cash flow optimization by managing accounts receivable and accounts payable balances
  • Design, implement and enforce internal controls
  • Assist with budgeting and monthly close processes
  • Track KPIs and prepare financial reports for cross-functional teams
  • Support tax reporting processes, including working with external advisors on the preparation of annual income tax returns and SR&ED claims
  • Understand, manage and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and regulatory bodies 
  • Coordinate with external auditors for interim and year-end financial statement audits 

What you bring to the table:

  • CA, CPA designation
  • 3+ years of audit or tax experience from a financial services firm or an industry finance team 
  • Experience assessing, understanding and developing internal controls
  • Willingness own accounting processes and learn from execution
  • Able to work independently, and solve problems with limited direction
  • Comfort juggling multiple files and deadlines
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
  • Desire to grow within the organization and help develop and execute on finance processes

It would be a bonus if:

  • You have an interest or expertise in real-estate
  • You have worked with an accounting software, preferably Xero
  • You bring technical expertise in ASPE and/or IFRS
  • You bring experience with budgets, payroll and/or tax compliance
  • You have a tech-savvy mindset and the desire to adopt new technologies and concepts
  • Your professional experience was with both private and public clients, ideally outside of the financial services industry
