We are a company that values and celebrates diverse experiences and perspectives because they make our team more successful.

What you will do:

  • As a member of the senior leadership team, shape overall company strategy, and develop, communicate, and execute a holistic people strategy
  • Build and manage our People team, including HR business partners, recruiting, D&I, and learning and development
  • Defining and delivering upon our employer value proposition to ensure we attract, develop, and retain the very best talent across all of our current and future offices (we currently operate in Toronto, but will soon be expanding nationally)
  • Oversee the talent acquisition team as they create and optimize our candidate sourcing capabilities, design a world-class candidate experience, and oversee a structured, rigorous, and unbiased candidate evaluation process
  • Ensure Properly is a diverse and inclusive workplace where every member of our team feels able to do their best work and be their authentic selves

  • Oversee and strengthen our performance and feedback processes
  • Manage day-to-day employment matters, set HR policies, and advise management and staff regarding employee relations, policies, and other areas across HR
  • Create and implement people metrics and use this data to drive changes in our people strategy
  • Work alongside the senior leadership team to design the ‘way we work’, including overseeing both our digital and physical workspaces

What we're looking for:

  • Demonstrated ability to scale programs and practices. You’ve taken a team from 50 to 300+
  • An ability to nurture relationships with C-level executives, potential Board members, and top talent, and a capability to recruit them into the company as the need arises
  • You have strong business acumen with the ability to create winning strategies that advance the development of our teams and the strategic and financial trajectory of the company
  • Expertise in designing salary and equity compensation strategies and the ability to structure plans that motivate and excite employees while remaining fair and equitable across the organization
  • You’re an ‘energy giver’ - you love spending time with people, always have a pulse on the morale of the organization you’re a part of, and cultivate energy and excitement amongst those you spend time with
  • Understanding of HR best practices and employment laws and regulations
  • You have a coaching style that inspires trust and helps to get the best out of both leaders and individual contributors
  • An experienced People leader with 8+ years of experience in HR / People preferably with prior experience as an HR Business Partner and in recruiting
  • Prior experience leading a sizeable HR / People team and building (vs. just maintaining) People philosophies, policies, and processes in a high-growth startup
